Unmotivated Post

Why I don’t watch motivational videos, attend motivational events, or nod my head to motivational quotes.
*It is understandable if you are not motivated to read this unmotivating post.

1. Motivational stuff does not teach you or tell you how to do this or that, small starts and hard work are not included. They tell you to ‘just do it’ cause you CAN. Well, guess what Will Smith, I CAN NOT start saving anytime soon.
2. It makes you feel guilty. Everything told to motivate you is presented to you in a shiny, colorful, milk and ice-cream filled tray. Just believe you can do it and you will do it. Well, guess what Arnold Schwarzenegger, I am not going to start exercising. Ever. So, now seems to me I can’t do it cause I don’t believe in myself.
3. It’s temporary. You can only be motivated, if you are at all that is, for few minutes, hours or days if its really good stuff. That’s why I only drink water while watching your videos, Jay Shetty, and then we’re back to milk.
4. It makes you dependent. Why do we need magical inspiration to do stuff? It leads to only doing work when we feel like it. Now, I am not feeling like working but guess what Prince Ea I am working. To work consistently towards something, you’ll have to do it when you don’t feel like it.
5. It makes you feel productive without all the work required in between. It might lift your mood temporarily but do nothing to combat the problem. The problem might be perfectionism. It could be that you’re simply trying too much and the goals need to be broken down. Or a number of other things that continue procrastination. I don’t need to be intensely motivated for everything, Dr. Mihret Debebe. I can do it all with my meh face. It’s fine to just write some words without becoming your own personal cheerleader in the process. It’s called being normal.
Just so we’re clear this post was motivated by my lack of motivation.
